Nick Balzano is a Long Island-based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and event organizer who has been an active presence in the local music scene for over a decade. First emerging on guitar with the bands A Band In Ship and Mint State, Nick has since become a familiar face behind the drum kit on stages across the island, performing regularly with Whaley, Ernie & The Band, The Belle Curves, Sarah Gross, Pete Mancini, and more.
Starting his musical journey at just five years old with drums and piano, Nick built a strong foundation early on, studying under respected teachers and performing in school ensembles well ahead of the curve. He went on to study Music Education at George Mason University, where he became a vocalist for the acclaimed pep band, Doc Nix and the Green Machine, and featured in a viral Rage Against the Machine medley. Though he left GMU before graduating, his time there fueled his drive to create and collaborate.
Nick’s versatility shines through his studio work as well. He’s recorded drums for a wide range of artists including Lauren Dayle, Ronnie Gross Jr., Anne O’Rourke, James Puccio, and others. His work at Silo Recordings and other studios has made him a trusted collaborator known for both precision and creativity.
Beyond performing, Nick is passionate about creating platforms for others. He has organized countless events in collaboration with local companies and venues like Liquid Shadows Entertainment, 89 North, and Blue Point Brewery. His latest and most ambitious project, Pine Barrens Jam, is a grassroots music festival designed to showcase Long Island’s diverse creative talent and bring people together through music and the arts.
Nick is available for studio sessions (drums), fill-in/short-term live gigs (drums/guitar), and solo acoustic for weddings or bars/restaurants (with vocals). His mission is simple: to build community through music and support the artists who make it happen.
